This week’s weather will feel like 20 C in southern Ontario

It's going to feel like 20 degrees Celsius in southern Ontario this week.

There will be lots of sunshine this week with spring temperatures climbing above 17 C in southern Ontario.

Last week, the region experienced gloomy weather with thunder, fog, and plenty of rain fall. 

As of today (April 21), the forecast calls for a mix of sun and clouds with temperatures reaching 11 C. Despite the warmth, it will be fairly windy with gusts reaching up to 50 km/h.

Closer to the evening, the skies will clear up as temperatures are expected to drop to -5 C with wind chill.

Monday morning is going to start slightly cloudy and chilly with lows of around -5 C. However, it will warm up to a sunny 15 C by the afternoon, making it the second hottest day of the week. Brisk southwest winds may also start in the afternoon moving at 30 km/h.

For those heading outdoors, staying hydrated and applying sunscreen is advisable as the UV index is expected to reach a moderate level of 5.

The skies will remain clear into the evening with temperatures cooling to 7 C, making it one of the warmer nights this week. The windy conditions will also calm down closer to midnight.

On Tuesday, though temperatures will rise to 14 C, it is going to be damp and gloomy with a 60 per cent chance of rain throughout the day. By the evening temperatures will hover above freezing at 1 C.

Environment Canada predicts the sunshine will retun on Wedensday with cloudy periods, which may clear at some point in the day. Daytime temperatures will peak at 7 C and drop sharply by 11 degrees to a chilly -4 C in the evening, making it the coldest night of the week.

Thursday will feature another splendid sunny day, warming up to 10 C followed by a clear night as temperatures are expected to slip to 1 C. Interestingly, on this same date 34 years ago, a record-breaking heatwave saw temperatures soar to 31.4 C on April 25, 1990.

Friday is going to be predominately cloudy with sunny breaks. Temperatures will reach a high of 14 C where it will remain for the greater part of the day. By the evening, there’s a 40 per cent chance of rain as temperatures slightly fall to 10 C, marking another warm night.

The weekend will kick off on a warm note with temperatures reaching 17 C, feeling more like 20 C  on Saturday due to humidity. Despite the heat, the day will be mostly overcast with no sunshine and a 60 per cent chance of rain. Evening temperatures will slightly drop to 12 C.

The weather is expected to improve towards the end of April with meteorologists predicting sunshine almost daily while daytime temperatures could stay between 15 C and 16 C. Nighttime temperatures are also set to stay mild, ranging between 9 C and 10 C.
