There was an average of two or more robberies per day over the past 12 months in Mississauga and Brampton, according to police records.
From Jan. 1 to Dec. 13, 2025, Peel Regional Police data indicates that 772 robberies were reported across both cities, with 405 in Mississauga and 367 in Brampton.
Here’s a month-to-month breakdown of the number of robberies in these cities for 2025, based on police data:
- Jan. 1 to Jan. 31: 84 —39 Brampton 45 Mississauga

In 2025, robberies showed noticeable fluctuations, with lower totals through much of the spring and summer before rising again in the fall.
From Jan. 1 to Jan. 31, a total of 84 robberies were reported, with 39 in Brampton and 45 in Mississauga. February saw a slight decrease to 81 incidents, driven largely by a drop in Brampton, which recorded 31 robberies, while Mississauga saw an increase to 50.
Robberies rose again in March to 87 incidents, with Brampton recording 46 cases compared to 41 in Mississauga. That momentum slowed in April, when total robberies dropped sharply to 52, marking the lowest monthly total of the year. During that period, Brampton recorded 23 incidents and Mississauga reported 29.
The numbers began to climb in May, reaching 65 robberies, with Mississauga once again recording more incidents than Brampton at 35 compared to 30. June continued that upward trend, with 76 robberies reported — 35 in Brampton and 41 in Mississauga.
The summer months saw a decline, particularly in July, when total robberies fell to 56. Brampton accounted for 34 of those incidents, while Mississauga saw a notable drop to 22. August recorded the lowest summer total, with 43 robberies overall, split between 24 in Brampton and 19 in Mississauga.
Robberies increased again in September, climbing to 64 incidents, largely driven by Mississauga, which recorded 38 cases compared to 26 in Brampton. October continued that upward trend, with 71 robberies reported, split more evenly between the two cities — 37 in Brampton and 34 in Mississauga.
The most significant increase occurred in the final reporting period, from Nov. 1 to Dec. 13, when 93 robberies were recorded. Mississauga accounted for the majority of those incidents with 59 cases, while Brampton recorded 34. With 18 days remaining in the year, those numbers could continue to rise.
Additionally, 236 of those robberies were carried out with guns, 273 with other weapons, four were violent purse snatches and 259 were listed simply as “other” by police.
As of Saturday, 235 of these incidents are considered solved, while a whopping 452 are still being investigated, and 85 are deemed unsolved.
The data doesn’t indicate how many arrests were made or injuries reported in relation to these robberies.

Some residents may feel a slight relief, as robbery incidents have declined by about 20 per cent compared to 2024, when 961 incidents were reported in Mississauga and Brampton. However, police continue to offer advice to help residents and businesses safeguard themselves against crimes of this nature, including break-ins, thefts, fraud and cyber fraud.

- Ensure your surveillance system is properly functioning.
- Ensure you have proper lighting inside and outside your premises, and remember to maintain it.
- Provide all staff with robbery prevention training.
- Reduce the amount of cash on hand by making frequent cash drops.
- Have low shelving to improve customer visibility.
- Place your shelves in a way that allows employees to see between the aisles from the sales counter.
- Remove all excessive window signage or clutter from the sales area and other critical lines of sight.
- If a robbery happens, victims are advised to contact police immediately.
