‘Armed and dangerous’ fugitive arrested on Canada-wide warrant in Brampton
Doneil Josiah Levy-Porter, 18, of Brampton has been charged in connection to a shooting at a London hospital.

A nationwide manhunt is on for an armed and dangerous man from Brampton following a home invasion and shooting in the GTA, police say.

York Regional Police say officers were called to a home near Sir Sanford Fleming Way and Grand Turk Avenue in Vaughan shortly before 4 a.m. on Monday for reports of a break-in.

Officers found one male victim inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound, police say.

The man was rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

Police have identified a suspect in the home invasion and shooting as 18-year-old Brampton man Doneil Josiah Levy-Porter, but say investigators have been unable to find him.

A picture of Levy-Porter has been released to the public as investigators are asking anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to come forward.

But officers warn he is considered to be “armed and dangerous, and poses a threat to public safety.”

“If seen, citizens are urged not to approach him but to call police immediately,” York police say.

Levy-Porter is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant on charges of:

  • robbery with a firearm
  • possession of property obtained by crime
  • possession of prohibited weapon knowing no authority
  • possession of loaded prohibited firearm
  • possession of prohibited device knowing no authority
  • two counts of fail to comply with release order
  • fail to comply with undertaking
