The pizza revolution will not be televised, but apparently it will be wood-fried.

Dough Box Wood Fired Pizza & Pasta opened its first location in Mississauga this week at the Heartland Town Centre (5955 Latimer Dr.). The restaurant’s speciality is artisanal pizzas, authentic pastas and fresh salads, according to its Instagram bio.

There are also plans to open a second Mississauga location at 230 Lakeshore Rd. E., in Port Credit. Coincidentally, the similar-sounding Doughboys Pizza & Chicken just opened down the street at 152 Lakeshore Rd. E.

Dough Box’s flagship location is in Hamilton, which has proven to be one of the pizza meccas in Canada. Some of Dough Box’s pizza creations include the Bianco (oven-roasted chicken, ricotta and, roasted broccoli) and the Twisted Club (featuring chicken, fresh avocado and pancetta). Another is the Electric Avenue, whosev unique toppings include jerk chicken, pineapple and chipotle aioli.

One meal option for the carb-conscious involves ordering a half-pizza and salad.

Dough Box’s flagship location in Hamilton is on Main Street West. Its website says it also has plans to open restaurants in Toronto and Oakville.

Places: Dough Box pizza.
