Proof of vaccination no longer required to attend upcoming outdoor hockey games in Hamilton
Fans attending the NHL Heritage Classic or the Hamilton Bulldogs Outdoor Showcase at Tim Hortons Field will not be required to provide vaccination proof.

Fans attending the 2022 NHL Heritage Classic or the Hamilton Bulldogs Outdoor Showcase at Tim Hortons Field will no longer be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccinations.

The Hamilton Sports Group made the announcement Thursday (Mar. 3) ahead of a pair outdoor hockey games at the stadium.

The Heritage Classic between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres is scheduled for Mar. 13 and the outdoor OHL game between the hometown Hamilton Bulldogs and Oshawa Generals is set for Mar. 14.

“Following the guidance from the Province of Ontario to ease certain COVID-19 related restrictions this week, fans will not be required to show proof of vaccination at either of the hockey games at Tim Hortons Field later this month,” said the Hamilton Sports Group in an email.

Masks will be still required for indoor areas, such as restrooms, and are recommended for fans while seated unless they are eating or drinking.

“The Hamilton Sports Group encourages all of our fans and partners to get fully vaccinated to ensure we can keep our community safe from COVID-19 as we continue to progress through the pandemic,” they added.

In line with provincial mandates, proof of vaccination had been required to attend all events at Tim Hortons Field since Sept. 2021. However, the Ontario government eased most pandemic-related restrictions at the beginning of March — including proof of vaccination requirements for most indoor activities and large-scale outdoor events.
