Major work underway on rollercoaster at Canada’s Wonderland

Major work is underway on an iconic rollercoaster at Canada’s Wonderland.

The Mighty Canadian Minebuster, which is one of three wooden rollercoaster at the amusement park, is getting 980 feet of track replaced.

Canada’s Wonderland said that older sections are being replaced with new wood “to keep the ride running smooth.”

“The Mighty Canadian Minebuster  continues its major retracking program, with 980 feet of track provided by The Gravity Group using pressure-treated, vertically stacked laminated lumber for increased durability and a smoother ride experience,” Wonderland said.

Track was also replaced on the rollercoaster last year.

The Mighty Canadian Minebuster was one of the four original roller-coasters at Canada’s Wonderland when the park opened in 1981.

It is the longest single-track wooden roller-coaster in Canada at 3,559 feet and was modeled after a ride at Coney Island in New York City.

Minebuster will be closed at the beginning of the season as crews complete the work.

Meanwhile, the Flight Deck rollercoaster is also seeing changes at Canada’s Wonderland (it will now be known as “The DareDeviler”), and the park is implementing a chaperone policy for young guests.

Canada’s Wonderland opens for the season on May 3.
