Big changes for popular rollercoaster at Canada’s Wonderland

Big changes are happening this season for a popular ride at Canada’s Wonderland.

The amusement park located in Vaughan says the rollercoaster that was formerly known as Flight Deck and previously Top Gun is being “reborn.”

It will now be known as “The DareDeviler.”

“Opening early summer, The DareDeviler propels guests into the daring dawn of aviation as Canada’s Wonderland reimagines its iconic inverted coaster with a bold new identity, smoother ride experience, and immersive backstory rooted in fearless innovation,” Canada’s Wonderland says.

The ride will have new trains and “targeted track refinements.”

The new trains will offer improved seating and open vest-style restraints, while the track refinements will deliver a “smoother, more dynamic ride,” Wonderland says.

Riders can expect “enhanced comfort and visibility for an immersive flying sensation.”

Canada’s Wonderland says that the rollercoaster is designed to “make riders feel like they’ve taken the controls of a legendary stunt plane.”

The amusement park provided more information on the “reborn” ride’s backstory:

“At the turn of the 20th century, world expositions captivated crowds with visions of the future. Among the wonders of that era was a revolutionary experimental aircraft unveiled by French inventor Étienne Vallon. Known as The DareDeviler, the prototype was engineered to attempt maneuvers no aircraft of its time could safely achieve,” Wonderland says.

“The plane’s true fame came during the barnstorming era, piloted by the fearless Canadian aviator Clara “Hawk” Redmond, whose breathtaking dives, barrel rolls, and near‑miss stunts dazzled audiences wherever she flew. Though the original aircraft faded into aviation folklore, its reputation for heart‑pounding exhilaration never disappeared. Now, that legend rises once more.”

Canada’s Wonderland opens for the season on May 3.
