Summer has brought plenty of reasons for foodies to get out and explore Toronto, with new restaurants continuing to open across the city.

Here are four restaurants that opened in Toronto in July:

Wilbur’s Taco Shop

Popular Mexican restaurant Wilbur Mexicana quietly opened a second Toronto location in Liberty Village.

Called Wilbur’s Taco Shop, the new restaurant opened at 50 Atlantic Ave. with a spacious interior, a large patio and a menu centred on tacos and Mexican street food.

Taco options include al pastor, carne asada, baja fish, bulgogi, mushroom and crispy cauliflower. The menu also features quesadillas, fajitas, Mexican street corn and tortilla chips served with guacamole, queso or salsa.

Wilbur Mexicana’s original King Street location has served Toronto customers for more than a decade.

Dark Horse Espresso Bar

Toronto-based coffee roaster Dark Horse Espresso Bar opened its newest location at CF Sherway Gardens.

The café, located near the Mississauga border, marks the company’s 18th location in Ontario.

Along with espresso, lattes, cold brew and freshly brewed coffee, the new shop offers prepared café snacks, merchandise and seasonal drinks such as the Apricot Sunrise Matcha, Banana Milk Matcha and Iced Peach Pie Matcha.

The location also has a small outdoor seating area for customers looking to take a break from shopping.

Gebang Sikdang

Michelin-recognized Korean restaurant Gebang Sikdang opened its first Canadian location in downtown Toronto on July 17.

The restaurant, which has earned Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition in Seoul, is operating alongside Japanese restaurant Katsuya at 66 Gerrard St. E.

Gebang Sikdang is best known for ganjang gejang, a traditional Korean dish made with raw crab marinated in soy sauce. Its menu also features other raw crab dishes served with soy-based or spicy sauces.

The Toronto opening follows a temporary collaboration between Gebang Sikdang and Katsuya earlier this year.

Don’t Tell

A new jazz bar and restaurant called Don’t Tell opened on Ossington Avenue.

The restaurant, located at 59 Ossington Ave., combines live music with a speakeasy-inspired interior featuring red curtains, candlelight and a performance stage.

Its Asian- and French-inspired menu includes caviar, oysters, scallop sashimi, foie gras takoyaki, bulgogi brochettes and uni carbonara.

Desserts include yuzu meringue pie, liquid chocolate takoyaki and an interactive seasonal dessert named after the restaurant.
