A winter festival will transform a Mississauga community into the Kingdom of the Sweets.

WinterIN The Port returns to Port Credit with a kick-off event on Dec. 3.

This year’s theme revolves around the popular Christmas ballet, The Nutcracker. Visitors to Port Credit may have already noticed nutcrackers standing guard throughout the village.

And just like in the ballet, visitors “will be transported to The Kingdom of Sweets,” according to the Port Credit BIA.

On Saturday, Dec. 3 the event will include a five-piece band, a strolling sugar plum ballerina, and a stilt-walking Nutcracker.

There will be holiday stories and cookie decorating.

WinterIN The Port starts with the annual tradition — the lighting of the Port Credit Lighthouse at 105 Lakeshore Rd. W. at 6 p.m. on Dec. 3.

The event doesn’t end there. There will be two months of celebrations with more information released later.

For those driving, there is free parking in Port Credit from Nov. 30 to Jan. 15, 2023.
