Wild Waterworks in Hamilton will reopen later this month

Here comes the Wild Waterworks, after a two-year COVID-19 pause.
The attraction at Confederation Park in Hamilton is expected to reopen toward the end of June, the Hamilton Conservation Authority (HCA) announced on Monday (June 13). The announcement from HCA emphasized that one effect of the pandemic is that the waterpark while adjust operations due to a provincewide lifeguard shortage.
The park will generally run on a five-day Wednesday-to-Sunday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. schedule. However, it will be open for the Civic Holiday and Labour Day holiday Mondays.
“The pandemic has meant two years of very little lifeguard training and expiring certifications on top of that, making fewer lifeguards available,” Wild Waterworks manager Sara Kinnear stated in a release. “Shortages of all kinds are commonplace these days, and now, lifeguards are in short supply to start the summer, impacting many facilities.”
Tickets and season passes will be available for purchase online before opening day, Wild Waterworks added. Further information will be posted on wild-waterworks.com, Facebook and Instagram in the coming days.
The park was closed in each of the last two summers. There was consideration given to opening at 25 per cent capacity last summer, but it was determined that demand would not meet the cost of operating the park.

The Ollie’s Landing and Waves food concessions will also be operating when Wild Waterworks opens. The park is located at 680 Van Wagners Beach Rd.
