Canada Day falls on a Tuesday in 2025, meaning we won’t get a true three-day long weekend. So it’s best to be prepared and know what’s open and closed in Brampton before gearing up for holiday shopping or recreation.
Here’s what is open and closed for the 2025 Canada Day long weekend in Brampton:
Canada Day
Open:
- Some smaller grocery and convenience stores.
- Most Shoppers Drug Mart locations.
- Some restaurants will be open for dining, but call ahead to be sure.
- Wet’n’Wild water park is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Bramalea City Centre will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., but some stores and restaurants might be closed.
- Select Beer Store Locations:
- 180 Sandalwood Pkwy. E.
- 80 Peel Centre Dr.
- 198 Queen St. E.
- Some Brampton Recreation Centres will be open for modified hours, check ahead to be sure.
- All City trails, playgrounds, and parks, including off-leash dog parks.
- All essential and critical services, including Fire and Emergency Services, By-Law Enforcement, and Security Services.
Other major malls that are open:
- Toronto Premium Outlets (9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.).
- Square One (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
- Eaton Centre (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.).
- Pacific Mall (11 a.m. to 8 p.m.).
Closed:
- Shoppers World Brampton.
- Walmart Supercentres.
- Banks.
- Community Centres.
- LCBO.
- Canada Post (no mail pick-up or delivery).
- Service Ontario and all government offices.
- Peel Community Recycling Centres.
- Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA).
- All Brampton Library locations.
- Brampton City Hall.
- Brampton Animal Shelter.
- Region of Peel offices and non-emergency services.
- All Town of Caledon offices and non-emergency services.
Other Major Malls That Are Closed:
- Sherway Gardens.
- Yorkdale Shopping Centre.
- Erin Mills Town Centre.
- Heartland Town Centre.
Fireworks
Brampton City Council made changes to the City’s fireworks bylaw in 2022 banning personal fireworks in the city, but Canada Day is one of a few days every year when the City of Brampton sets off a fireworks display.
Only the film industry and the City are allowed to apply for permits to use fireworks in Brampton under the new bylaw.
Fines have been increased to a minimum of $500 for discharging fireworks, a $1,000 penalty for selling them or failing to comply with an order and a maximum fine of up to $100,000.
Transit:
Brampton Transit will be operating on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Tuesday, July 1.
Customer Service counters at the terminals and Brampton Transit Clark and Sandalwood Facilities, including Lost and Found, will be closed on Canada Day.
