Trendy Vietnamese sandwich shop to open new location in Toronto

A viral sandwich shop is opening its first official location in Toronto.

Banh Mi Nana, a renowned sandwich shop that excels in Vietnamese sandwiches, originally opened in Thornhill last year and was an immediate hit, as it sold over 2,000 sandwiches on its opening day.

Now, due to its skyrocketing popularity, Banh Mi Nana is set to open in Yonge and Finch in Toronto.

Known for doing one thing and one thing right, Banh Mi Nana only sells one kind of sandwich, the ‘Banh Mi Nana Special’ for less than $10. Patrons can expect a delicious pork Vietnamese sub with all the fixings, including pickled carrot, cucumber, cilantro and some in-house sauce that has some serious kick upon request.

Also, with alleged extra butter and paté free of charge, no wonder this place sold thousands on its original opening day.

The announcement of Banh Mi Nana’s sequel location came via Instagram, where a video announced that they are “excited to share that we will be opening our second location soon near Yonge and Finch.”

As a result, the North York community could not contain their excitement, with some comments reading, “Congrats!!! Finally heading west!!!” and others saying, “My favvvv banh miii the bread is so fragranttt.”

Beyond the flagship sandwich, Banh Mi Nana also offers some cold drinks and fresh Vietnamese iced coffees — the perfect pairing for what many claim is the GTA’s best banh mi.

Other unique Vietnamese places have also been opening in the city.

Recently, Renso Pho-Potle, a cozy pho space built from the ground up with accessibility and a relaxed vibe in mind, opened as a drop-in dining space where guests are in the driver’s seat with a fully customizable pho experience.

Another acclaimed–and Michelin-recognized–Vietnamese place, Pho Le, opened in Toronto earlier this year.

Pho Le’s pho previously gained Michelin Bib Gourmand status, joining the ranks of restaurants that are selected by the prestigious international food guide for providing exceptional cooking at an affordable price.

Pho Le uses two kilograms of beef and bones for every litre of broth, flies in their herbs and spices from Vietnam and makes everything fresh daily to order.

While no official word has been relayed on when the new Toronto location of Banh Mi Nana will open, representatives behind the humble sandwich counter state that it will be sooner than we think.
