Parts of Ontario could see stormy weather with the risk of a tornado on Friday.

Thunderstorms are possible over southern Ontario and portions of northeastern and far northwestern Ontario on Friday, Environment and Climate Change Canada said in a post on X.

“Some storms in southern Ontario could produce strong winds, rain, and a tornado risk,” the weather forecaster said.

The storm outlook is in effect from noon on Friday until Saturday morning.

In the Greater Toronto Area, there is a 60 per cent chance of showers and a risk of a thunderstorm Friday evening, according to Environment Canada.

There are also warnings and special weather statements in effect for heat in the extreme southwestern area of the province and heavy rain in cottage country.
