There is a heat warning in effect for part of southern Ontario while other parts of the province could get heavy rain.
Temperatures could soar to 33 C, feeling like 44 C with the humidity in southwestern Ontario including Windsor, Leamington and Essex County, according to the warning from Environment and Climate Change Canada.
A low of 21 C is expected in the evening. The warning is in effect from Friday until Monday night. There will be brief relief from the extreme heat on Saturday after the passage of a cold front, though daytime highs will still remain warm near 29 C and humidex values near 38 C, the warning stated.
In cottage country, including Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Huntsville, Algonquin Park and Haliburton, there is a special weather statement for heavy rain.
From 30 to 50 millimetres of rain is expected to start Friday morning and continue through this evening.
Thunderstorms are also expected as a low-pressure system tracks east across the region.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads, Environment Canada warns. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
The North Bay area has a rainfall warning with up to 50 millimetres of rain and thunderstorms expected.

The area around Windsor, shaded in red, is under a heat warning while cottage country has rainfall alerts.
