From Meditteranean to Chinese cuisine, snacks and everything in between, the year 2022 saw a lot of diversity in terms of restaurant openings in the city.

5. Sharmz Mediterranean Restaurant

Sharmz Meditteranean Restaurant, which is located at 135 Main St. North, offers traditional dishes such as Shawarma and kebabs, while also offering Canadian classics such as poutine with a Mediterranean twist.

Popular menu items include chicken, beef and Falafel Shawarma platters along with kebabs and sandwiches.

4. The Alley

The Alley, located at 10025 Hurontario St., is a bubble tea and beverage bar known for creating unique drinks.

Signature drinks include the Royal No.9, made with black tea pre-roasted with blueberries and the Deerioca series with brown sugar tapioca pearls that go through a two-hour slow-cooking process.

3. The Munchie Mart

This snack shop located at 186 Main St. South features rare and exotic snacks and drinks.

The shop features a variety of treats, cereals, snacks and drinks from Japan, the UK, Mexico and more.

Unique snack items available at the shop include Mocha Caramel Latte Oreos, Cotton Candy Jelly Bellys, shrimp Prawn Crackers and strawberry popcorn.

2. Hakka Spoon

Hakka Spoon, which specializes in Chinese cuisine, opened up at 4 McLaughlin Rd. South.

The menu features different chicken, beef and fish options in a variety of flavours and spice levels and an array of appetizers such as soups, paneer, salads, momo, spring rolls, pakora and more.

The pancake house franchise officially opened its doors at 50 Biscayne Cres. on June 7.

IHOP offers 65 different breakfast items as well as lunch, dinner and late-night options including its Ultimate Steakburgers.
