Two people suffered life-threatening injuries in a shooting outside a school last night in the west end of Mississauga.

In an update this morning, Peel Regional Police said a man in his 40s has died. The other victim, a male under the age of 20, is in hospital.

The two males were shot in the Montevideo Road and Lorca Crescent area, in the parking lot of Settler’s Green Public School around 11:10 p.m. Wednesday (May 22), Peel Regional Police said in a post on X.

Two people were transported to hospital and one person was later airlifted to a trauma centre via air ambulance, Peel Regional Paramedic Services said.

The suspect or suspects left the area and there is no description at the moment.

Police believe this is an isolated incident.

A heavy police presence remains at Settler’s Green Public School, and is expected to be there into the day.

The school will remain open though the parking lot is closed, a spokesperson for the Peel District School Board told insauga.com.

More information is expected later this morning. This story will be updated.
