Owners of certain vehicles are being told to park only outside amid a recall in Canada.
“Under certain conditions, the switch for the driver- and/or passenger-front power seat motor(s) could become stuck and cause the seat motor(s) not to stop,” Transport Canada said in a notice.
“If this happens, the motor(s) could overheat.”
Officials said a seat motor that overheats can create the risk of a fire, even when the vehicle is parked and turned off.
The recall is from Kia and involves the 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 Telluride models.
There are 20,563 vehicles that are impacted in Canada.

Transport Canada said this is a second recall notice.
“The recall repairs completed by a Kia dealer during service campaign RC207 (Transport Canada recall number 2024-323) may not have been done correctly,” officials said.
“As a result, a second repair is required.”
Kia is advising owners to park their vehicle outside and away from other vehicles and structures until the repairs have been completed in order to reduce the safety risk.
The company will notify owners by mail.
They will be advised to take their SUV to a dealership, where an electronic fuse will be installed for the power seats.
Meanwhile, a large number of BMW vehicles have been recalled, also due to a fire risk.
In that case, Transport Canada said the engine starter on the vehicles “may not have been manufactured properly” and could overheat.
There are 26,247 vehicles affected by that recall.
Owners of the impacted vehicles are being told to not use the remote start function and not leave their vehicle unattended with the engine running until the repairs have been completed.
