More than 24,000 vehicles have been recalled in Canada due to an airbag issue, officials say.
Transport Canada said in a notice that the connector for the driver-front airbag in the steering wheel could corrode.
That could lead to the airbag not inflating in the event of a crash.
“An airbag that doesn’t work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash,” officials said.
The recall is from Land Rover and involves the following models / model years:
- DEFENDER — 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 2026
- DISCOVERY — 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 2026
- RANGE ROVER — 2022 2023 2024 2025 2026
There are 24,658 vehicles that are affected in Canada.
The issue would cause the airbag warning light to turn on, officials said.
“Land Rover will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to apply grease to the driver’s airbag connector terminals,” Transport Canada said.
