RECALL: Mirror could fall off 15,000 vehicles in Canada

A recall has been issued for more than 15,000 vehicles in Canada because a mirror could fall off, officials say.

Transport Canada said in a notice that the passenger-side mirror glass on the affected vehicles may not be attached properly and, as a result, it could fall off.

“A missing mirror will reduce rear visibility and could increase the risk of a crash,” the notice said.

It could also lead to a road hazard for other drivers.

The recall is from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.

It involves the 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 RAM 1500 models.

“This recall only affects certain trucks equipped with a heated trailer tow mirror,” the notice said.

There are 15,461 vehicles impacted in Canada.

Fiat Chrysler will notify owners about the problem in writing.

They will be advised to take their truck to a dealership so the passenger-side mirror glass can be replaced.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday INsauga.com reported on another vehicle recall.

That one involved certain Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator models, involving a total of 26,900 vehicles in Canada.

In that case, the trim for the seat fold switch on the second-row outboard seats could get stuck.

“If this happens, the seat(s) could fold and/or move unexpectedly…. A seat that folds and/or moves could increase the risk of injury in a crash,” the notice said.

It’s a second recall after an initial repair failed to address the problem.
