Nonno’s, which calls itself a 100-per-cent plant-based butcher, has opened its shop at Hamilton Farmers’ Market.

It’s open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the lower level at 35 York Blvd. in downtown Hamilton.

Nonno’s says it’s about “bringing back the nostalgic flavours, textures, and foods that many of us grew up enjoying.”

Kerry Sobers and Celina Masoudi, the entrepreneurs behind vegan fast food restaurant Bring Me Some Vegan, opened the venture at the Farmers’ Market on July 6.

Along with Italian-style sandwiches such as classico with corned beef and “chickun” parmigiana, Nonno’s has other offerings such as basil vegan pesto, vegan charcuterie board, kale slaw, potato salad, baccala (cod fish), a variety of cheese and vegan meats.

“Vegan or not, we’re just about good food and good times,” the shop, whose name is Italian for grandfather, wrote on Instagram.
