Almost a dozen schools in Caledon have been closed to in-person learning on Thursday (Feb. 17).

The Peel District School Board said 11 schools were switched to virtual classes after buses in the district’s Zone 3 were cancelled “due to inclement weather conditions.”

“In-person learners will switch to asynchronous learning for the day and log onto their Virtual Learning Environments (VLE), to retrieve assignments,” the school board said.

A snowfall warning has been issued for Mississauga, Brampton and other parts of Southern Ontario. Rain, freezing rain and up to 20 cm of snow expected to hit the region between Thursday and Friday.

Student Transportation of Peel Region (STOPR) has divided Peel into three zones, as weather conditions may only require some bus cancellation in specific areas and not the entire region.

Zone 3 comprises schools in Caledon north of Old School Road and Healy Road.

Here are all the Caledon schools that switched to virtual classes on Thursday:

  • Allan Drive Middle
  • Belfountain
  • Caledon Central
  • Caledon East
  • Ellwood Memorial
  • Herb Campbell
  • Humberview Secondary
  • James Bolton
  • Madoc Drive
  • Palgrave

Cancellations are communicated through the STOPR website, the STOPR twitter account, and on the Peel District School Board and Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board websites and twitter accounts.

Required bus cancellations will be in place for the entire school day regardless of changed weather or road conditions.
