A stabbing and fatal crash were two of the more serious calls Niagara Regional Police responded to over the weekend.
Niagara Regional Police responded to stabbing at a home in the Margery Road and McMaster Avenue area in Welland in the early morning hours of Sunday, Dec. 4.
And sadly a 18-year-old died in a crash on Sunday, Dec. 4 in West Lincoln.
These were two of nearly 900 calls for service from 5 p.m. on Dec. 2 to 7 a.m. on Dec. 5.
The highest number of calls, 69, were for an “unwanted person”, which typically means a trespasser or unwelcome guest to a home. Historically this is one of the higher categories for calls for service, but it can rise and fall, said Niagara Regional Police Service Const. Philip Gavin.
The next highest was assisting ambulance at 58 calls, and mental health at 55 calls. Domestic issues calls was next at 50.
A complete list of calls can be found on the Niagara Regional Police Service website.
