woman dies after two-vehicle rollover crash in Mississauga.

Three teenagers from Mississauga have been charged in an early January deadly shooting in the city.

Gunfire rang out near Battleford Road and Glen Erin Drive shortly after 5 p.m. on Jan. 3. That area of Meadowvale is home to multiple large apartment buildings near Meadowvale Town Centre. The area has become known for violence in recent years.

“This is a very crowded area (with pedestrians and motorists),” said Const. Nikhil Chakravarthy at the time. “We’re urging members of the community who may have seen anything” to come forward and contact police.”

When first responders arrived at the scene, they found one man suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local trauma center, but succumbed to his injuries there.

Peel Regional Police later identified the victim as Shawn Murphy, 26. He was the city’s first murder victim of 2024.

On April 15, police announced the arrests of three suspects including:

  • A young person from Mississauga charged with second-degree murder
  • Another young person from Mississauga charged with accessory to murder after the fact
  • Luke Campbell, 18 of Mississauga, charged with second-degree murder and breach of a court order

All three were held until a bail hearing in Brampton. Police did not specify the ages or genders of the two young people. Their names are protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act

Anyone with information can call police at 905-453-2121 ext. 3205 or Peel Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
