Winter seems to be finally arriving in southern Ontario.

After a mild December and then a small blast of snow on New Year’s Eve, winter weather may finally be on the way.

Environment Canada is forecasting a chance of flurries tonight (Jan. 2) and Wednesday.

There is more snow expected on the weekend with a chance of flurries on both Saturday and Sunday.

Temperatures are looking cool dropping down to a high of -5 C on Thursday for much of southern Ontario. With windchills, it could feel like -8 C in Hamilton to as cold as -15 C in Mississauga, Brampton and Halton.

And a “messy system” is expected next Tuesday (Jan. 9), according to the Weather Network’s Doug Gillham.

The weather system could bring 10 to 15 millimetres of rain and one to three centimetres of snow on Jan. 9 for parts of southern Ontario including Mississauga and Brampton, according to the Weather Network.

Around 10 mm of rain and two to four centimetres of snow is expected in Burlington, and a little less in Hamilton.

The temperature is forecast to reach a high of 1 C and a low of -4 C.

Prepare for a possible treacherous commute.
