Lottery climbs to $123 million ahead of next draw in Canada

Lottery players across Canada will have another chance at a massive payout in the next Lotto Max draw.

According to the latest details from the lottery corporation, the next Lotto Max draw, scheduled for Tuesday, December 23, will feature a total prize pool of approximately $123 million.

The draw will include an $80 million Lotto Max jackpot, along with an estimated 43 Maxmillions prizes. Each Maxmillions prize is worth $1 million, giving players multiple chances to win big in a single draw.

While the $123 million prize pool is one of the largest ever offered in Canada, it does not set a new record.

The biggest overall Lotto Max prize pool was reached in June 2021, when the combined value of the jackpot and Maxmillions climbed to approximately $140 million, fuelled by dozens of additional $1 million prizes.

No ticket matched all seven numbers needed to claim the top prize in the previous draw, allowing the jackpot and the number of Maxmillions to grow.

Lotto Max tickets cost $5 per play and give players one set of numbers for the main draw, with additional chances created through Maxmillions when the jackpot exceeds $50 million.

With dozens of million-dollar prizes up for grabs, the upcoming draw is expected to attract strong interest from lottery players across the country.
