Fried-chicken fans will soon have another option to cure their cravings in downtown Hamilton.

A Chicken Plus+ takeout restaurant is under construction in the plaza at 1 Wilson St., which includes local favourites August 8 and Nabil’s Middle East Fast Food. Chicken Plus’ stock-in-trade is authentic Korean fried chicken, which foodies typically enjoy for its texture and a variety of sweet and spicy sauces.

The relatively young chain also recently opened a Mississauga location (2560 Shepard Ave.) that, in its first month, has earned 4.9 stars out of 5 on Google reviews. Compliments that come up multiple times in the reviews of that spot on Shepard in ‘Sauga highlight the crunchy and fresh servings of boneless chicken and wings, the size of sharing-friendly portions and generous use of ingredients.

Some flavours for chicken dishes include garlic soy, the sweet-‘n’-spicy Yang-Nyuem, and creamy onion. The options at the spicy end of the spectrum include a snowing cheese “that will make your tongue twist,” at least according to an online menu.

Chicken Plus+ also has locations in London, Ont., Midland and Scarborough.

The shop that is coming to Hamilton will also be just steps away from a Gong Cha bubble tea shop (109 James St. N.). That seems worth mentioning, on the off-chance anyone’s tastebuds need a cold drink afterward.
