June 12 weather: Showers and high that feels over 30 C in southern Ontario

Friday’s forecast calls for a chance of showers and a high that could feel hotter than 30 C in the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario.

Environment Canada says the morning will be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Oshawa and the Niagara Falls area.

A west wind will be blowing around 30 km/h with gusts up to 40 km/h to 50 km/h across the GTA.

The daytime high will be around 29 C in Toronto, but could feel more like 32 C due to the humidity. The UV index will be at 9 or “very high,” the weather agency says.

Conditions are expected to clear into Friday night with more wind gusts up to around 40 km/h in Mississauga, and a low of around 18 C.

The hot weather will continue on Saturday with a high of around 28 C and sunny skies. With the humidity, it could feel like 31 C, according to The Weather Network. The GTA should get a break from the heat on Sunday with a high of 22 C and a low of 9 C expected.
