Temperatures will reach up to 20 C this week in southern Ontario

Ontario residents, get ready for a delightful shift in the forecast this week as brighter skies and warmer temperatures are on the horizon, promising a refreshing change from wintry weather.

Last week began with gusty winds, bitter cold and light snow, but it was the dramatic turn of temperatures at the start of March that brought sunshine and highs of 9 C. By the weekend, the rain returned with foggy patches, though temperatures remained in the pluses.

As of today (March 3) there will be overcast skies for most of the day with 7 C temperatures. By tonight, temperatures are set to slightly fall to 4 C while foggy conditions are expected to return.

Monday is going to feel like stepping into spring. The morning will begin cloudy, as the overnight fog gradually clears. By the afternoon, it will be mostly sunny with cloudy periods while daytime temperature will rise to a high of 15 C. Towards the evening, the skies will become cloudy again as temperatures slip to 8 C—making it the warmest night compared to the week.

It’s going to be mainly cloudy with rain on Tuesday, but temperatures are set to hit 17 C —though some areas might warm up to 20 C. By the evening, there’s a 60 per cent chance of more rain which may continue through the night. Temperatures are expected to move to 0 C.

According to Environment Canada, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will typically be the same, bringing mainly cloudy conditions throughout the day and night. Morning and afternoon temperatures are expected to peak at 8 C with the winter chills making a comeback in the evenings, dropping as low as -3 C.

Saturday is expected to stay cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of rain. Temperatures will also cool below freezing to -1 C.

For those looking for some fresh air, warmth and sunshine, Monday and Tuesday appear to be the prime days for outdoor activities. However, it’s advisable to have an umbrella handy in case of rain.
