A growing pizza chain will soon be trying to entice Hamilton foodies who want more spice in their slice of ‘Za.

Popular Pizza, which features Indian-style fusion pizza — coriander, chilies, garlic and ginger are free toppings that are laid on the dough before the pizza is slid into the oven — announced Tuesday that is opening its first location in the city. The location will be at 267 Queenston Rd., at Parkdale Avenue North.

The chain, which was founded in Brampton in the late 1990s, has 30 locations across Southern Ontario.

Hamilton pizza fans, of course, are quite literally well-served, between award-winning local shops, the uniquely local slab pizza sold in grocdery stores, and a myriad of major chains. While Popular Pizza is also a chain store, it has earned its niche by creating pies that incorporate butter chicken, tandoori roast chicken or shahi paneer (a gooey cheese) as a main toppings.

One unique side dish on the menu is oven baked fish.
