D spot cafe and dessert shop is opening in north Oshawa

If you’re looking for a vibrant and colourful spot to enjoy a milkshake and other sweet treats with family and friends, this could be the perfect place.

D Spot Dessert Café is set to open its first location in north Oshawa, situated near Taunton Road and Wilson Road at 1340 Clearbrook Dr. The is located in a plaza alongside the newly opened Farmboy, Chick-fil-A, and Shelby’s Legendary Shawarma.

The café offers a wide selection of desserts, including cakes, waffles, skillet cookies, pancakes and crepes. These can be topped with fruit, a choice of ice cream, and melted chocolate for added indulgence.

Some cake options include the classic red velvet cake, carrot cake, chocolate lava cake and birthday cake.

The “Lotus Cookie Butter Milk Cake” is one of the most ordered items. It’s a vanilla sponge cake soaked in a rich tres leches mixture, topped with caramelized Lotus cookie crumbs.

Another standout is the “My Treat Croffle,” a creative blend of croissant and waffle, topped with cheesecake bites, graham crumbs, drizzled chocolate and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

D Spot’s menu also has plenty of hot and cold beverages, perfect as standalone refreshments or paired with any meal.

D Spot’s popular Mix Berry Mojito is a chilled blend of fresh mint, lemonade, strawberries, blueberries, and sparkling water. For those colder days, the “Hug in a Mug” is a comforting choice. It includes steamed milk infused with pistachios, almonds, saffron, coconut, and sweetened condensed milk.

Other drink options include lattes, milkshakes and sodas.

Some D Spot locations don’t just serve dessert – the menu also has meal options such as sandwiches, burgers, sausages, pizzas and poutines— all loaded with savoury toppings.

The café has expanded significantly in Ontario, with locations in Mississauga (three), Brampton (two), as well as Oakville, Milton, Durham, Hamilton, and Burlington. The franchise’s growth extends beyond Ontario, with establishments in Alberta, British Columbia, and Manitoba, with plans for new openings in Nova Scotia, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and the U.S.

It remains unclear whether the Oshawa location will operate as a full-service restaurant or offer only desserts and beverages.

Although the “coming soon” signage is up, the interior is still under construction, and there is no official timeline for when the shop will be serving patrons—whether this spring, in the summer, or later this year.

If you’re craving sweets and can’t wait for the Oshawa opening, you might want to check out D Spot’s other Durham locations in Pickering and Ajax. On most weekdays, these cafes are open from 1 p.m. to midnight. Over the weekends, the Ajax spot stays open until 2 a.m., while the Pickering location closes at 1 a.m.
