Five Brampton spots to get sweet treats for International Chocolate Day

If there’s something worth celebrating this Tuesday, it’s International Chocolate Day.

Celebrated annually on Sept. 13 to commemorate the birth of the American chocolatier and founder of the Hershey Chocolate Company, Milton Hershey, International Chocolate Day may not be a holiday but it is an excuse to indulge.

Here are five places in Brampton where chocolate lovers can indulge their sweet tooth:

Dray’z Cakez

Specializing in making “cheesecakes with swag,” Dray’z Cakez was started by Brampton’s own “Cheesecake Boss” Andre Peynado.

Peynado turned a passion for baking into a new online business by creating eye-catching and jaw-dropping confections, and now with a brick-and-mortar storefront in Bramalea City Centre.

Holy Shakes

A restaurant that serves gourmet, specialty milkshakes, Holy Shakes has more than 100 gourmet fusion milkshakes in Retro Glass Milk bottles. Chocolate lovers can get some crazy concoctions including Mars, Twix, Reese’s, Smarties, and Oreo.

With two locations in Brampton, guests can pick up some chocolaty goodness at the 20 Gillingham Dr. or 2880 Queen Street East.

SK Confectionery

Having recently celebrated a grand opening, Sahajbir Kaur of Brampton’s SK Confectionery crafts customized creations for weddings, celebrations or just good old fashioned dessert.

Not wanting to tackle an entire cake by yourself? The consider trying some of Kaur’s other creations like Chocolate Dipped Oreos, Chocolate Covered Strawberry, or even Ganache Dipped Donuts.e

SK Confectionery is located at 2120 Northpark Dr. in Brampton.

MacaronZ

First established in 2011, Macaronz has their original pastry shoppe and tea salon in Brampton but recently expanded with a new location in Mississauga.

The shop is home to several different pastry and dessert varieties including French macarons, scones, crème brulee, cupcakes, mini donuts and, of course, chocolate cups.

You can find Macaronz at 43 Queen St E. in Brampton.

Laura Secord Chocolates

A Canadian classic in the chocolatier world, Laura Secord Chocolates has been an institution when it comes to Canadian confections for over a century.

And with a location in Bramalea City Centre, Bramptionians can pick up some goodies while exercising some true, patriot love.

From traditional sweets to hot chocolate, ice cream and more, Laura Secord has a number of Fall and Halloween-themed treats to get you in the Autumn mood.
