Canada’s most-wanted fugitive arrested in Montreal; charged in Toronto murder

A man hunted by police as Canada’s most-wanted fugitive since a murder last summer in Toronto has been arrested by authorities in Montreal.

Bryan Emmanuel Fuentes Gramajo, 23, of Longueuil, Quebec, was taken into custody by police in Quebec early on Thursday, Toronto Police said in a news release this afternoon.

He faces a charge of first-degree murder in the July 17, 2025 shooting death of Kashif Jamal Bentley-Jean, 28, of Toronto, in the parking lot outside Yorkdale Shopping Centre.

Gramajo, who’d been sought on a Canada-wide warrant since last year, is to be returned to Toronto where he’s scheduled to appear in court next Tuesday, police said.

Another man was arrested and charged last year in connection with the Toronto murder while a third man remains on the loose, police said.

Jimmy Prudent, 28, of Montreal, is also wanted on a charge of first-degree murder.

In the BOLO Program’s latest 25 Most Wanted in Canada list, updated last October, Gramajo was named No. 1 among those being sought by police across Canada for various violent crimes.

A reward of up to $100,000 had been made available for the arrest of Gramajo, an alleged gang member in Montreal.

Among other fugitives on the most-wanted list, a woman from Mississauga is being sought in connection with the 2024 stabbing murder of a 16-year-old boy.

Katherine Bergeron-Pinzarrone, 29, is No. 8 on the list and is wanted by York Regional Police.

The Bolo Program, which takes its name from the popular police term “be on the lookout,” leverages social media, technology and “innovative engagement” to raise awareness about wanted people and encourage citizens to be on the lookout for Canada’s most wanted suspects.

It was developed in partnership with police forces across Canada and Crime Stoppers programs.
