Canada Day falls on Wednesday, July 1, and Mississauga’s downtown core will be full of excitement and festivities.

Celebration Square will host a major Canada Day celebration starting at 4 p.m. and running until 10:30 p.m., featuring live entertainment, more than 25 food trucks and a spectacular fireworks display to close out the night.

While thousands are expected to gather in downtown Mississauga for the celebrations, it’s also important to know which businesses and services in Mississauga will be open or closed on the holiday.

Here’s a full breakdown of what’s open and closed in Mississauga on Canada Day — Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

Open:

  • Square One Shopping Centre (11 am to 6 pm)
  • Walmart Supercentre Square One (7 am to 7 pm)
  • Whole Foods Market Square One (8 am to 6 pm)
  • The Food District at Square One
  • Rabba grocery stores
  • T&T Supermarket on Central Parkway
  • Most Shoppers Drug Marts
  • Most restaurants
  • Several select Beer Store locations are open 11 am to 6 pm (check back here in the coming days for specific locations)
  • Celebration Square
  • Splash pads

  • Heartland Town Centre

  • Sheridan Centre
  • Meadowvale Town Centre

  • Libraries
  • Community centres
  • Government offices (all levels)
  • LCBO
  • Most Beer Store locations (with three exceptions listed above)

Transit

  • MiWay will operate on a regular Sunday schedule and some routes will not operate due to low customer demand while other routes (3, 7, 10, 17 and 23) will run later to accommodate people getting home from celebrations (check schedule online)
  • GO Transit will run on a Saturday schedule
  • TransHelp – to travel on Wednesday, July 1 and Thursday, July 2, you must call 905-791-1015 and book by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30. On July 1, TransHelp will operate from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. and the TransHelp office will be closed

Waste collection

  • No waste collection on Wednesday, July 1 (will be collected one day later)
  • Peel Community Recycling Centres are closed on Wednesday, July 1
