Canada Day falls on Tuesday, July 1 in 2025, and although it won’t mean a long weekend, it should still provide a nice break from the work week.

Here’s what will be open and closed in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills on July 1.

Open:

  • Local parks and specific outdoor recreational amenities
  • Most Shoppers Drug Marts, but call ahead to be sure
  • Most restaurants will be open for dine-in, takeout and delivery, but make sure to call ahead
  • Some smaller grocery stores, such as Rabba grocery stores
  • Beer Stores from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.: 2025 Guelph Line and 5051 New Street in Burlington; 290 Hays Boulevard in Oakville
  • Wine Rack in Fortinos at 173 Lakeshore Road West in Oakville
  • In Burlington, Nelson Pool and Splash Park, Mountainside Pool and Splash Park, and LaSalle Wading Pool and Splash Park are open for swimming, weather permitting
  • Outdoor pools in Oakville, except Brookdale
  • Splash pads
  • Conservation Halton Parks: Crawford Lake, Hilton Falls, Kelso, Mount Nemo, Mountsberg, Rattlesnake Point
  • Terra Cotta Conservation Area in Halton Hills
  • Some Starbucks (hours may vary at different locations)

Other major malls that are open:

  • Toronto Premium Outlets (9:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.)
  • Square One (11 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
  • Bramalea City Centre (11 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
  • Vaughan Mills (11 a.m. – 7 p.m.)
  • Eaton Centre (11 a.m. – 7 p.m.)

Closed:

  • Banks
  • City/Town halls
  • No Canada Post mail delivery
  • Most Halton Region offices and services, although all 24-hour/essential services remain open
  • Community centres, seniors’ centres, indoor pools, arenas and libraries
  • Mattamy National Cycling Centre
  • Milton Mall
  • Burlington Centre
  • Mapleview Mall
  • Oakville Place
  • Harbour offices
  • Oakville cemetery offices
  • Oakville fire administration

Transit:

  • Oakville Transit will offer its holiday service schedule from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Burlington Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule
  • Milton Transit will not operate
  • GO Transit will run on a Saturday schedule

Garbage:

No garbage pickup on Tuesday, July 1. Pickup will be one day later in Halton for the week.
