Bowmanville murder victims, a married couple, were both shot, police reveal

More details about the double murder in Bowmanville last weekend emerged this morning, as police confirmed the victims, a married couple, had been shot.
The gunfire erupted in a suburban home on Crombie St. on Feb. 4. Sometime afterwards police received a 911 call requesting a wellness check on the couple, discovering the victims around 2 p.m.
When police arrived they found Aram Kamel (previously known as Aram Al-Kamisi), 28, and Rafad Alzubaidy, 26, dead suffering “obvious signs of trauma.” Investigators discovered Alzubaidy was pregnant. The couple was identified publicly on Feb. 8
During their initial announcements surrounding the case, police did not specify the cause of death. However on Feb. 9, after autopsies, they confirmed the pair died of gunshot wounds.
Investigators have released no suspect information or description. However, police believe the attack to be an isolated incident and say there is no risk to the public.
Alzubaidy and Kamel are the third and fourth murder victims in Durham Region in 2023. The first was the stabbing death of John Genereux, 66 in Uxbridge on Jan. The second was the murder of Ken Chopee, 58, in Oshawa on Jan 27.
