Another major Lotto Max jackpot has been won in Ontario, this time with a $55-million ticket sold in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell in the eastern part of the province.
The latest win comes just over a week after an $80-million Lotto Max jackpot was claimed by a ticket sold in London, giving Ontario back-to-back jackpot victories, according to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.
The $55-million jackpot was won in Friday night’s draw on Jan. 9. It is the first major Lotto Max jackpot of the year and sets an early milestone for 2026 lottery wins in the province.
“I’m excited to announce that Ontario Lotto Max players are celebrating once again with another massive jackpot win,” said Tony Bitonti, OLG’s vice-president of lottery marketing, in a statement Saturday. “I look forward to meeting the new multi-millionaire winners when they come forward to claim their life-changing prizes.”
Thousands of additional Lotto Max prizes were also awarded across Ontario. An Encore ticket worth $100,000 was sold in Ajax.
Players are encouraged to check their tickets using the OLG app or at participating retailers.
Since 2009, Lotto Max players in Ontario have collected more than $9.5 billion in prizes, including 119 jackpot wins and 993 Maxmillions prizes province-wide. Lotto Max tickets cost $5 per play, with draws held Tuesdays and Fridays.
OLG says 100 per cent of its profits are reinvested in Ontario communities and programs. The corporation also promotes responsible play through its PlaySmart program.
