From cozy cafés and crispy Korean chicken to hearty breakfasts and plant-based pizza, September brought a mix of new restaurant openings across the GTA.
If you’re looking for a spot to grab a coffee, a comforting meal or something bold and flavourful, here are five places in Mississauga, Brampton, Whitby and Oshawa you may want to check out.
Tribeca Coffee Co.

Tribeca Coffee Co. has opened its third shop, and this time it’s at 285 Lakeshore Rd. E. in Port Credit, in Mississauga.
The coffee shop took over the former Chou Chou Cheri space.
The menu includes a range of espresso drinks, teas, smoothies and treats, continuing the café’s mission to bring “the New York café experience to the suburbs.”
MyMy Chicken

MyMy Chicken, a Korean fried chicken chain already open in Mississauga, Toronto and Kitchener, has launched its first Brampton location at 6131 Mayfield Rd.
The menu features a variety of fried chicken flavours, including original, honey garlic, Korean curry and spicy red devil, along with wings, boneless chicken dishes, Cup Bap (Korean rice bowls), corndogs, crispy fries and onion rings.
Mr. Singh’s Pizza

Mr. Singh’s Pizza, a local chain serving 100 per cent plant-based pizzas, has opened its newest Brampton location at 284 Orenda Rd. in the Bramalea area.
Menu offerings include the Chef’s Special (extra thin crust with onions, olives, corn, pineapple, green pepper and tomatoes), the Spicy Veggie Lover’s Pizza, the Farmhouse Pizza, and India-fusion creations like the Chilli Paneer Pizza, blending classic Italian techniques with bold, Indian-inspired flavours.
Jey’s Kitchen

Jey’s Kitchen is now open at 500 Rossland Rd. W., in Oshawa, and brings big breakfasts and comfort food classics to the city’s north end.
The menu includes hearty breakfast platters, such as The Big Daddy, loaded with eggs, peameal bacon, home fries, and French toast or pancakes, and The Hungry-Man, featuring eggs, sausage, peameal, beans, and your choice of pancake or French toast.
Beyond breakfast, the restaurant also serves burgers, sandwiches, pasta, steak, chicken and fish dishes, along with a selection of appetizers, soups, salads and shareables.
TrueNote Coffee

TrueNote Coffee has opened its first café at 73 Fiesta Way in Whitby.
The menu highlights specialty espresso drinks such as cortado, caramel macchiato and café mocha, along with iced pistachio and Biscoff lattes, raspberry espresso tonic and yuzu espresso tonic. Non-coffee options include black and herbal teas, matcha lattes, pandan float and ube float.
Fresh baked goods include croissants (butter, almond, pistachio and chocolate), cookies, brownies, tres leches cake and banana loaf.
