$40 million lottery prize unclaimed in Canada after 6 months

A massive lottery prize that was won in Canada nearly six months ago has still not been claimed.

On Oct. 28, one ticket matched seven out of seven numbers in the Lotto Max draw to win the $40 million jackpot.

Tony Bitonti from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation previously said that ticket was sold somewhere in Grey County in southern Ontario.

Grey County includes the municipalities of Owen Sound and The Blue Mountains, among others.

Currently, the $40 million prize is still listed on the OLG’s unclaimed tickets page.

INsauga.com contacted the OLG Tuesday to see if there was an update regarding the ticket, including whether it had yet been check with a ticket scanner, whether in-store or via the app.

“I just checked and there has been no activity on that winning ticket as of yet,” Bitonti said.

“I am unable to give you more information on the exact retail location because that detail is part of the prize claim verification process….

“We need the holder of the ticket to give us details about where and when the ticket was purchased so we can determine if they are the rightful winner.”

Bitonti noted that tickets that are printed from a lottery terminal expire one year after the draw date.

“So for this specific ticket, there are still six more months before it expires,” he said.

“We hope someone comes forward before then as we are anxious to pay out such a life-changing prize rather that have it expire and remain unclaimed.”

According to the OLG website, these were the winning numbers for the Oct. 28, 2025 Lotto Max draw: 06 14 17 19 26 43 45 Bonus 27.
