From family-run restaurants to acclaimed dining destinations, it’s never easy to see local businesses that have become part of their communities close their doors.
Here are three restaurants in Mississauga, Hamilton and Oakville that announced closures in June:
Aristotle’s Steak & Seafood House

After nearly four decades in Mississauga, Aristotle’s Steak & Seafood House has served its final customers.
Located on Millcreek Drive in the Meadowvale neighbourhood, the restaurant opened in 1989 and became known for its steaks, seafood and fine dining experience.
“The time has come for us to say goodbye,” the owners said in a message posted to the restaurant’s website. They thanked customers, employees, friends and family members for supporting the business over the past 37 years.
After the restaurant’s founder passed away in 2019, his sons continued operating the family business. They said Aristotle’s had become “more than just a restaurant,” serving as a place where friendships were built, families gathered and memories were made throughout the years.
Mystic Ramen

A popular Hamilton ramen restaurant has announced it will close after years of overcoming challenges.
Mystic Ramen became known not only for its ramen but also for creating a welcoming community through events, collaborations and family-friendly dining experiences.
“Thank you for everything. We love you. This is not goodbye, but see you again soon,” the restaurant said in an emotional social media post announcing the closure.
The restaurant said it expects to remain open until July, although it could close sooner. The announcement sparked an outpouring of support online, with customers sharing memories and thanking the restaurant for being part of family celebrations, weddings and community events.
Hexagon

An acclaimed Michelin-starred restaurant in Oakville has temporarily closed after nearly a decade in business.
Hexagon earned Michelin stars in both 2024 and 2025 and became known for its modern fine dining menu featuring refined takes on seafood, pasta and other contemporary dishes.
The restaurant announced the temporary closure following the departure of executive chef Rafael Covarrubias, thanking him and the entire team for their contributions over the past nine years.
“We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Chef Rafa Covarrubias and the entire Hexagon team for their dedication and contributions over the past nine years,” the restaurant said in a statement. “As we transition into new leadership, the restaurant will be temporarily closed.”
The restaurant has not announced when it plans to reopen.
