Fatal car fire in West Lincoln, say Niagara police

Police officers in Niagara Region discovered a dead person inside a burning vehicle on Wednesday night (Dec. 29).

Around 7:30 p.m., officers with 8 District of the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a fire in the area of Krick Road south of Elcho Road in the Township of West Lincoln.

Once the flames were extinguished, it was observed that the vehicle contained a deceased person.

The detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in investigating the case. Anyone with information or video of vehicular traffic in and around the area, including dashcam footage, is asked to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service at 905-688-4111, ext. 1024235.

The Niagara coroner’s office and the Ontario Fire Marshal are also contributing to the investigation.

It was the second night in a row that the NRPS attended a suspicious fire in West Lincoln.

On Tuesday, Niagara police and West Lincoln firefighters responded to a barn fire in the area of Victoria Ave. and Tice Road. Detectives believe that the barn was being used for a cannabis grow-op.
