It’s no secret that Brampton’s arts and culture scene is something to be proud of.

It’s no secret that Brampton’s arts and culture scene is something to be proud of. A litany of superstars tote their Brampton identities every day, and the arts scene in Brampton is truly exciting.

This new energy is under the spotlight with an incredible schedule of events at Garden Square this summer.

That includes live music every Friday night with notable performers from 8-10 p.m. Every Friday night features an opener and a headliner.

Here’s the list of upcoming acts you can catch on Fridays:


July 20, 2018

The Young & The Reckless will be performing at 8 p.m. They’re a rock band from St. Roch that pays homage to the classics of the 70s/80s/90s.

At 9 p.m., you can enjoy the musical stylings of The Rebelljo Band. They specialize in reggae, top 40 classic rock, funk, and dance music.


July 27, 2018

Opening up the evening at 8 p.m., you can catch BRDGS, a brand new electronic pop act that evokes the heartfelt emotionality of acoustic music and fuses it with modern electronic production.

At 9 p.m., you’ll see the JUNO-nominated Courage My Love, whose fans will certainly take over the square. These twin sisters and their bass player bring their unique brand of rock from Kitchener, Ontario.


August 3, 2018

The night is noticeably more hip-hop, with DJ Mel Boogie opening up the night with her famous mixes. She’s actually  one of Canada’s best-known female DJs.

At 9 p.m., you can jam to some tunes from Sorority, a group featuring Brampton’s own Haviah Mighty. They’ve been taking over the music scene recently, with their very own billboard in Toronto promoting their Northern Bars playlist.


August 10, 2018

From Aurora, The Beresfords are a brother and sister duo who specialize in country music. Their self-titled EP made it to #4 on the Canadian Country iTunes charts. You can catch them at 8 p.m.

At 9 p.m., Elyse Saunders delivers her brand of country music from Peterborough, Ontario. Her powerful stage presence is set to rock Garden Square.


August 17, 2018

The night belongs completely to Freedom Train, who does a variety of classic rock, R&B, country, and funk songs. Carl Jennings provides vocals and bass and Tim Jennings kills the drumming. Big Ed Mitchell shreds the guitar as well.


August 24, 2018

This Friday, we’ll see a return to hip hop with Raz Music taking the stage at 8 p.m. Raz has toured Europe and North America, collaborating with renowned artists like Islam B and Cat Stevens. He recently secured an opening gig for Hasan Minhaj.

The headliner for the night will be Noyz and B Magic, otherwise known as Movin’ Cool, at 9 p.m. These two are OGs in the Toronto hip hop scene and have represented Brampton at South by Southwest. Selena Dhillon will end off the night with her soulful voice.


August 31, 2018

Side Hustle takes the stage at 8 p.m. with their gentle indie rock sound. This is a perfect pairing with the headliners at 9 p.m., Birds of Bellwoods, a Toronto indie folk/rock band who enjoyed an energetic solo show at The Mod Club.


Friday nights this summer are going to be lit, with a curated list of performances, thoughtfully crafted with themes in mind. The City of Brampton is truly stepping up its game.
