Worker in ‘life-threatening’ condition following chemical spill at Burlington plant

A worker remains in hospital with a life-threatening condition following a chemical spill at a Burlington plant yesterday (April 4).
Officials investigating the spill at Control Chem Canada on Harvester Road say the worker was overcome with fumes and collapsed while a chemical was being transferred.
Police and emergency crews were called to the scene around noon and closed off a section of Harvester while the extent of the spill was determine. Other workers in the plant were told to leave the area.
The Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident.
A spokesperson for the Ministry said an official has been assigned to the case but would not comment further because the investigation is ongoing.
