A worker remains in hospital with a life-threatening condition following a chemical spill at a Burlington plant yesterday (April 4).

Officials investigating the spill at Control Chem Canada on Harvester Road say the worker was overcome with fumes and collapsed while a chemical was being transferred.

Police and emergency crews were called to the scene around noon and closed off a section of Harvester while the extent of the spill was determine. Other workers in the plant were told to leave the area.

The Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident.

A spokesperson for the Ministry said an official has been assigned to the case but would not comment further because the investigation is ongoing.
