A Hamilton woman faces embezzlement charges after $72,000 went missing from a Community Living organization.
Between the years of 2021 and 2023, approximately $72,000 was allegedly stolen from a fundraising account belonging to Rygiel Supports for Community Living in Hamilton, Hamilton Police said.
Rygiel Supports for Community Living is a non-profit organization that provides supported living for individuals with disabilities across 36 homes in Hamilton.
One person was charged after a forensic investigation, police said.
Viola Galamini, 56, of Hamilton, was arrested on Jan. 22. She has been charged with criminal breach of trust, fraud over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and use of a forged document.
Galamini was released and is scheduled to appear in court in April 2026.
