Mississauga finally hosts its first-ever craft beer festival

Brewers from across Ontario are bringing their finest offerings to Burlington this weekend.

Starting tonight (March 3) and continuing tomorrow, the Winter Beer Festival will celebrate craft beer, food and other activities for those who enjoy locally made products.

The event takes place at the Holiday Inn Holiday Inn Burlington Hotel & Conference Centre.

According to Mike Feric, who is one of the promoters for the event, over 30 vendors will be taking part in the festival that will feature craft breweries, craft distilleries, ready-to-drink brands as well as a variety of food offerings.

“It should be a great show, something for anyone that loves beer and the food that goes along with it,” he said. “People want to try new things, new flavours and the festival will provide that opportunity.”

Feric went on to say that those who attend the show will be able to sample many of the products and meet the “artists” who developed these beverages. As well, product will be available for sale to take home.

“And they really are artists,” Feric said referring to the brewmasters. “These are highly skilled individuals dedicated to producing a great product.”

As it stands now, there are more than 300 craft brewers in Ontario who account for up to 12 per cent of beer sales in the province.

Feric said independent brewing is an expanding industry, with a large amount of local investment as well as employing thousands of people. He said support for the product is strong as consumers have been turning to homegrown and local businesses following the pandemic.

“The Burlington event provides an opportunity for these entrepreneurs and customers to finally come together in one location,” he added.

Hours for the Winter Beer Festival are today from 4 to 11 p.m. and Saturday from 3 to 10 p.m.

The Holiday Inn Burlington Hotel & Conference Centre is located at 3063 South Service Rd.
