Canadian film and TV icon William Shatner will be joined by basketball legend Dennis Rodman and other stars at the Sport Card Expo next month in Mississauga.

Shatner, most famous for his role as Captain Kirk in the Star Trek series, will be the featured autograph guest at the show which runs from April 25-28 at the International Centre.

The Montreal-born Shatner, now 92, continues to be a mainstay on television hosting the series The Unexplained and appearing as a guest recently on The Masked Singer.

But it will be Captain Kirk who the fans are coming out to see as Shatner has turned his most famous persona into a second career appearing at fan expos and comic book conventions around the world for hefty fees decades after Star Trek appeared on television screens.

As for Rodman, his flamboyant personality often outshone his skills on the basketball court but many experts list him as the NBA’s greatest defensive player.

With dyed hair and tattooed body, Rodman’s character often seemed larger than life as he courted controversy both on and off the playing surface and continues to be a lightning rod for attention whether it comes to his political views or brushes with the law.

The Sport Card Expo will feature several other autograph guests, mostly from the world of hockey, including Curtis Joseph, Teemu Selanne, Dennis Hull and Billy Smith.

Former NFL and CFL star Warren Moon, current Blue Jay Kevin Kiermaier and wrestler Rob Van Dam will also be there.

But the show is not just about autographs.

Considered Canada’s largest sports memorabilia show, the expo will bring together more than 500 dealers from across North America who will be selling cards and other collectibles that are new, old or rare.
