Whitby stabbing victim declared dead in hospital

The man stabbed in his Whitby home earlier this afternoon has died, Durham Regional Police confirmed.

Police announced the stabbing via social media around 4 p.m. The man had been stabbed during a “domestic-related” incident at and suffered life-threatening injuries.

He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police announced his death at 5:20 p.m.

The attack took place on Regatta Cr a residential neighbourhood near Victoria St down by the lake.

The attacker remains at large with police on the lookout for them. However, investigators have not provided any suspect description as yet.

Homicide detectives have been called in and will be on scene to investigate.

This is the eighth murder in Durham Region so far this year. In 2021 there were nine murder cases across the entire year investigating the deaths of 12 victims.

Last year it took until October to reach seven homicide cases and the eighth didn’t come until the holidays.
