Adam Parks of Whitby is nearly a million dollars richer after winning the LOTTO MAX second prize in the March 29 draw.

Parks, a 45-year-old father, said he has been playing the lottery for about 25 years and his favourite games are LOTTO MAX and LOTTO 6/49. He won $921,610.50.

While getting ready for work one morning, he checked his ticket and discovered his win. “I saw I had six numbers and the bonus, and I started screaming – I was so excited!” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.

He said his screams woke up his daughter. “I had to tell her everything was okay and when I told her about my win she said, ‘That’s amazing’ and went back to sleep,” he laughed.

Parks said the whole experience was overwhelming. “I had to let it soak in. I literally screamed ‘We just won the lottery!’ at the top of my lungs. It’s unreal. A total shock.”

The lottery win means his daughter’s university is paid for, he added. “The rest will go towards a house.”

OLG is booking in-person prize claim appointments at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. Those who win between $1,000 and $49,999.99 are encouraged to submit them online or mail them, as appointment availability at this prize level is limited. Submitting claims online is fast and secure. Customers with prizes over $50,000 are asked to call 1-800-387-0098 to discuss available prize claim options.

LOTTO MAX players in Ontario have won over $6.9 billion since 2009, including 91 jackpot wins and 741 MAXMILLIONS prizes, right across the province. LOTTO MAX is $5 per play and draws take place on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The winning ticket was purchased at Shell on Taunton Road in Whitby.
