Whitby man facing numerous charges after morning pharmacy burglary

A man from Whitby is facing several robbery and gun charges after police allege he busted into a pharmacy in town Wednesday morning.

Investigators allege the man broke into West Lynde Pharmacy on Dundas Street the morning of February 23, prior to the business’ opening for the day.

The man allegedly stole prescription drugs, and then ran from the scene. As he fled the building the man camr across an employee who had just gotten to work. Police say the suspect pointed an imitation firearm at the employee as he ran away.

Police were called to the scene and responded by 8:50 a.m.

Dylan Lycett, 20 of Whitby, faces charges of using an imitation firearm during flight, possession of weapons dangerous, break and enter commit business, carrying concealed weapon, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, assault with a weapon and pointing a firearm.

Under Canadian law using an imitation gun in the commission of another offense results in the same charges as if that gun were real.
