What's Open and closed Victoria Day May 20 in Mississauga

Victoria Day in Mississauga falls on Monday, May 20 2024.

Celebration Square in Mississauga’s downtown core will be open to visitors, as usual, on the holiday Monday and its water fountain will be on full display.

Also, in advance of the holiday, you can catch the annual Discover Egypt Fest taking place on Saturday, May 18 at the square.

While many stores and services will be closed on Victoria Day, several will remain open.

Here’s what’s open and closed on Monday, May 20:


Open

  • Square One: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Whole Foods Market Square One: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Beer Store locations at 1550 Dundas St. E. and 3154 Hurontario St. — 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • T&T Supermarket
  • Some smaller grocery stores, such as Rabba
  • Most Shoppers Drug Marts, but call ahead to be sure
  • Local parks and trails
  • For urgent homelessness supports including food, supplies, referrals and shelter, call the Region of Peel Street Helpline 24/7 at 1-877-848-8481. For information on emergency shelters, call 905-450-1996
  • For Peel Living maintenance requests, contact the 24-hour request line at 905-790-7335

Closed:

  • Erin Mills Town Centre
  • Dixie Outlet Mall
  • Heartland Town Centre
  • Other large/main malls in the city
  • Government offices
  • City Hall
  • Region of Peel offices
  • Banks
  • Libraries and Community Centres
  • LCBO
  • Wine Rack
  • Most major grocery stores
  • Most Beer Store locations (see above for two locations that will be open in Mississauga)
  • Canada Post (no mail pickup or delivery)

Garbage

  • No waste collection on Monday, May 20. Garbage will be picked up one day later than usual
  • Community Recycling Centres will be closed
