Here’s what’s open and closed on Boxing Day on Monday, December 26, 2023, in Oshawa, Whitby, Pickering, Ajax, Clarington and the rest of Durham Region.

OPEN

  • Most retail stores
  • Many grocery stores, but with reduced hours. Call ahead to be sure
  • Malls, such as Pickering Town Centre (9-6) and Oshawa Centre (8-8) will be open
  • Many restaurants in Durham will be open. Call ahead to be sure
  • Drug stores, convenience stores and most coffee houses will be open
  • Select LCBO outlets, including 400 Gibb Street in Oshawa, 2344 Hwy 2 in Bowmanville, 1899 Brock Road in Pickering, 170 Taunton Rd. W. in Whitby and 40 Kingston Rd. E. in Ajax, will be open 9-6
  • Select Beer Stores, including 75 Kingston Road, Ajax, 195 King Street E, Bowmanville, 1355 Kingston Road, Pickering, 3950 Brock St. N, Whitby and 200 Ritson Road N, Oshawa, will be open 11-5
  • Most cannabis stores
  • Some breweries will be open on reduced hours. Call ahead to your favourite to be sure.
  • Costco locations
  • Loblaws locations

CLOSED

  • Banks
  • Canada Post (no mail pick-up or delivery)
  • Government offices and buildings
  • Community Centres
  • Libraries

TRANSIT

GO Trains and buses and DRT Pulse buses will be running on a reduced holiday schedule

Garbage, blue box and recycling schedules will be pushed ahead one day.

Transfer stations will be closed. The stations, used for large water drop-offs, will be closed for most of the holidays.
